7 Easy Little Things That Can Boost Your Sesh
Work smarter, not harder, right? Sometimes it’s the 1% changes that help make the 1% gains. While you can’t expect them to drastically change your performance, they can help just a bit. Here are some easy ways to boost your session or climbing day:
1) Work on your skin. Pay attention to your hands; are they naturally dry or moist? Callous or soft? Act accordingly… here are some tips.
2) Brush holds! What’s easier to hang onto: a dusty hold or a clean hold?
3) Air out your hands. Wick away unwanted moisture with some dynamic movement or a fan. Dryer hands may help you get the extra friction you need!
Keep your palms open and repeat this movement to dry your hands (and get a bit of stretching). |
4) Chalk the sides of your fingers too. Especially when using pockets or holds way out to the side; most of the friction keeping you on the wall is on the sides of your fingers… why not maximize it?
5) Avoid friends. Ok, avoid DISTRACTIONS. Sadly, these often are the same thing. This is not applicable for everyone though. Some people thrive on each other while others lose focus. Experiment to find which you are.
6) Seriously, poop before your session! Do you want to be in the zone and then realize you need to drop a load?
7) Wipe your shoes off! The same principle as brushing holds. What has more friction; dirty shoes or clean ones? A quick rub on your pant leg goes a long way.
